Welcome back to Odyssey of Oddities. This month I
will be concluding the series of :
PERSONAL UFO'S PART THREEIf you have missed the first two installments of this column dealing with my own sightings etc. please go to the archives and read them. After my cousin's incident which was very similar to the Alberta Canada incident of not long ago, I suppose nothing much happened until around 1993. It had to have been around the summer of 1993 when I was flying back from Brownsville Texas on a flight that took me back to Tennessee. Our pilot said that we were cruising around 33,000 feet or close to that figure anyway. I usually take a window seat, as I like to see the ground below and keep up with where we are. Things do look much smaller and different at that altitude, but I am fairly adept at figuring out where we are at, since I have driven American most of my adult life. This flight was a daytime flight that landed in Nashville around 4 pm or so. I was seated on the right hand plane just forward of the leading edge of the wing, so I had a clear view of the ground below. This proved to be a strange flight though, but one of those things that you just can't quite sort out. The flight was un-eventful for most of it until we got to Tennessee. I could tell that we had crossed over the Mississippi River just a few minutes earlier and we had to be a little bit south of Memphis at this time. As we were just starting to lower our altitude for the long drop to Nashville, I saw a small community nestled in the trees of eastern Tennessee below us. I saw an airport runway below me. The town wasn't very big, but large enough to have an airport on the north edge of the town. All of the sudden from near the airport, but not exactly from the runway, I observed a very large boomerang shaped craft that rose very quickly up to around 1/3 of our altitude. It didn't move with the ground so much as it just rose straight up from it's position. I thought at first it must have been a jet aircraft. I could see it clearly with no obstructions at all. I never took my eyes off of this craft. Moments after it rose skyward, it left the area within seconds on a southward heading The view from our altitude is around 225 miles or so to the horizon. This boomerang shaped vehicle, darted out of sight in less than the count of two.. I'm not talking two seconds, I'm saying as fast as you can say "one, two". I never blinked, or turned my eyes from it. I clearly saw it streak completely out of view in less than two seconds. That is a lot of ground to cover in such a short amount of time. I still don't know what type of aircraft we would have that could move that fast in such a short amount of time. I have witnessed other planes coming close from the other direction and whizzing by at the combined speed of both aircraft at somewhere around 1,100 mph. This was an aircraft that was around 10,000 feet or around 22,000 feet below our altitude. It zoomed out at a speed that was far greater than meeting another jet coming in the opposite direction, in close proximity. In fact much greater. The speed was unbelievable. To this day I can't quite figure that one out. I suppose the scariest incident that took place with personal UFO's is the night of the infestation that apparently happened in our HOUSE! This story sounds bizarre, and I can't say that it actually took place as reported, but I will relate the facts as I know them to be and you can make your own judgment on the reality of the situation About ten years ago when my
son was 8 years old, we lived in a different house right in the
middle of a crowded neighborhood in suburban Chattanooga. It was so
crowded that our neighbors homes were about fifteen feet on either
side of us. One Sunday morning I woke up
with the clock in my bedroom blinking from an apparent power outage.
I got up as usual and reset it by my watch. I then went out to the
living room and noticed that the vcr was blinking also. We had a
power outage sometime over the course of the night. My son got up
and came out as I was resetting the VCR's clock. I told him that we
must have lost power last night and he looked at me in a funny
manner. I looked out the front door and saw my neighbor in his
driveway and decided to talk to him for a minute since we were good
friends. In a passing thought early on, I asked if they had lost
power last night. I suppose that the reason I asked was that we
never lost power at our homes. Even in a raging blizzard once, the
rest of the city was out of power, but our neighborhood was fully
powered. After asking him if they lost power, he said that he didn't
think so, and I followed him in his house to check. He asked his
wife and she followed us to the living room to see that all their
LED clocks and VCRs were set as normal. We all looked at each other
and said "nope". I left their house and my son was still
on the porch. Our neighbor on the other side was in her driveway
also. I asked if she had lost power and she responded that she had
not. As my son and I went back into the house the story began to
spill out. I made the remark that we
must have had ufo's last night to my son, since we are the only
one's that lost power between two houses less than 15 feet away. The
shocking part was that my son with an uneasy look on his face turned
to me and said "Dad, I was scared to tell you but we did have
ufo's last night". WHAT? In a calm and quiet way he
proceeded to tell me his story which I found very hard to believe.
The hard part was that my son had never told fanciful tales of any
sort and has always been straight up with me in all things. He does
not lie, and I have never caught him in even a small fib to this
day. His story was very unusual to say the least and could be
attributed to some sleep or dream incident. The only evidence that I
had was the power outage and the fact that he still says this is
true 10 years later. He has always told the same thing with exact
details and has never changed any portion of it when he tells the
story. Apparently he had to go to
the bathroom sometime in the hours between 2 am and sunrise. I
usually always stay up til 2 or so and that night would have been no
different. He went into the bathroom and closed the door. The
bathroom was right near the living room of our house. He opened the
door and turned the bathroom light off. When he stepped out he
observed two UFO shaped pinkish discs hovering in our living room.
They were about one foot to 18" in diameter and had a pink glow
emanating from the metallic like surface. One was hovering near our
entertainment center, and the other was near the ceiling fan. He
said that he ran down the hall to tell me about the intruders but
when he looked in my bedroom, there were three of them in there!!
One was by my dresser and two of them were over the top of ME! He
said that one of them was almost touching my head as it hovered over
the top of me. Yikes.. Let me out coach. He said that he ran in his
room and put the covers over his head and tried to not make any
noise so they wouldn't find him. He eventually went back to sleep... Okay, that is what his story
was and to this day he swears by it and will not retract it even if
you joke about it and claim it can't be real.. He swears that it is
and was real. The only evidence we have is the power outage that was
somehow only limited to our house and none of the neighbors homes. I
don't want to say one way or another if this is what actually took
place. It may have been a bad dream or perhaps a sleep paralysis
type situation, coupled with a vivid dream. All I know is that he
has never recanted his story and to this day swears that it actually
happened that way. He also says that he was not dreaming. So for
whatever it's worth, I decided to relay this odd story for you. I
didn't witness it at all, so I can't say that I saw it too. This is
one very honest child's story about what he says actually took
place. I have related the details, and it is up to you to sort out
the reality or disbelief of this account. I still find it hard to
believe, but then again I know my son very well, and I have to go
along with his account. After all it is an odd place out there
sometimes. Gtars said it.. If you have any comments on
this column or have any unusual events, feel free to post them in
the discussion board in this section of the site.. Till next month..
Take care, be safe, be vigilant, and may God bless all of those that
lost family members in the recent tragedy. America shall never
forget
