This
week we will explore the mystery
This week we will
examine
The Nazca plateau region of Peru is a desert
area with plateau's and mountains, almost devoid of life and
vegetation. This area contains one of the great mysteries of our time.
The Nazca lines, are lines that have been carved out of the desert for
some unknown reason. These lines go on for miles into the distance
with no real apparent reason behind them. There are also large
pictograms that are in Peru also which are equally mysterious. First
we shall examine the Lines of Nazca. The lines are scattered about in locations of
the aforementioned region. These lines are on mountains, plateaus, and
the desert floor as well. They look very similar to airport runways,
in the way that they are laid out. They intersect each other at
various angles in most cases. If you were to fly over them in an
aircraft, you would think that you were seeing a bunch of airport
runways below. You could easily mistake them for that. Other lines
just start at a point and go off into the distance and eventually end. So what were the lines created for? They are
thought to be around 1500 years old. That would take out the runway
theory. Eric Von Daniken has suggested in several of his books that
these were runways for "ancient astronauts". He has claimed
that they were probably used for that purpose. I do not cater to his
theory on that. If an advanced civilization were to come thousands of
light years to our planet, I don't think that they would need
"runways" in order to land here. Our technology needs them
for our transportation industry, but I don't think that any other
space faring civilization would require runways. When Neil Armstrong
and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon, they did not use a runway to come
in on. Likewise, I do not believe that anyone else would need one if
they were explorers. They would most likely have the technology to
land vertically as our own lunar module did on the moon right? If they
needed runways to land, boy would they have been disappointed when
they first arrived. "Well boys, we'd better turn back toward the
house, they have no runways here". C'mon Eric! My theory on the
lines is that they used them for star plotting or even navigational
aids of some type. I just don't buy the runway theory at all. Pictogram time. There are also huge drawings
carved out of the soil in the area. This is the strangest part of all.
There are drawings of monkeys, whales, and spiders. The drawings are
gigantic in proportion. So big in fact that you can only see the
drawing from several thousand feet in the air. If you were standing on
one of the drawings, you would not have any idea what it was. You can
only appreciate the pictogram from a high vantage point. So then what
on earth possessed the people in the area to make drawings that you
can only see if you are way up in the sky? Did they go up in the sky
to see what they were making? Why did they make such gargantuan
drawings that you could only make out, from two thousand feet up? That
is the question. This same phenomenon is also found in California, and
England. So what would enter someone's mind to do such a thing? "Hey Caramillo, get up, I have like this
great idea. Let's go out into the harsh desert environment, and take
days and days to make a drawing of a huge spider, that we can only see
if we are way up in the sky". Hello? Seems like something that wouldn't
register in my sanity files anywhere. What on earth were they
thinking? And who on earth were they making these drawings for? That
is a real good one there! They had no way of getting up into the sky
to see their own drawings! Or did they? Perhaps they were the first to
invent the hot air balloon!! It isn't exactly rocket science to create
one. You need fabric of a light nature, heat from fire, and also a
basket or something to sit on like a platform. A bunch of rope to
contain the balloon, and there ya have it!! Did these people use
primitive balloons to see what they were doing below? It has been
speculated on before, and some workable balloons were even made from
the local raw materials in the area. They could have been the first to
invent the hot air balloon, however, no records exist to prove that
they had this technology, so the mystery remains. What was the purpose
of their huge drawings that they couldn't even appreciate from the
ground? My cousin came up with one theory. He said "what if a
spacecraft was orbiting the earth and the pilot got bored waiting for
the landing party? So he aimed his laser at the ground and started
drawing for fun." Hmmm. Interesting. Probably makes about as much sense as
anything else. At least he could see the drawings, and appreciate them
from his vantage point. Who knows though? What is your opinion on the lines and the
drawings? If you have one to offer, please go to the discussion board
and post it for us. We are always happy to hear from you. Also if anyone
has a good ghost or paranormal story, we are always happy if you post
those too, after all..it's an odd place out there sometimes.. Gtars said
