Welcome back to "Odyssey of Oddities" This week is a disturbing topic..

THINGS THAT FALL

You are in your house, all of the sudden loud pounding sounds are heard on your roof. You run to the window to see what on earth is beating on your roof. This happened to me one morning. I found it to be giant hailstones. A little bigger than a softball. These giant hailstones beat everything into a pulp from cars to crops and glass throughout the city. That was something normal though. Could you imagine if it was something else?

Strange things do fall from the sky. An occasional meteor does strike the earth, and one lady in New England is recorded as the first and only person to ever get beaned by one, throughout known history. She was sitting in her living room with her husband, when a fairly good sized rock fell through the roof, and down through the attic and beaned her on the head. That too seems normal compared to what some people have witnessed falling from the sky. How about fish anyone? Yes there are numerous occasions when people have been pelted by falling fish. The odd part is that you may think that just a random whirlwind came up and picked up the fish in a lake and dropped them all out somewhere else. My first thought too. But what if they are all the same exact size and species of fish? Can a whirlwind pick just one type of fish out from all of the others and neatly drop them somewhere miles away? If it is just a weight consideration, surely some toads, or tadpoles of that weight should have also gotten mixed in the mess. These fish "falls" are usually quite large in area too. One was actually measured to be about 80 feet by 12 feet wide and the fish covered the ground in that whole area. One other interesting item is that they were alive also. But what is up with just one species and a uniform size of fish falling out of the sky? No other debris comes down with them either, just fish!

Live fish are not the only thing to fall. The list is a good one, with all sorts of goodies. Hazelnuts, pelted several houses in England, with no hazelnut trees in the area. Of course some things seem rather silly to have lot's of falling on your head. Try being outside and wondering why salamanders are landing on you. Oh yes, it happened alright to a gal in Oregon. Or how about grain? Okay so I thought to myself, well wind could pick up grain and redeposit it elsewhere. How about grain from an entirely different continent though? This took place in Rajket India, and the surrounding countryside. Didn't grow that kind of grain in the whole country! Let's assume a passing ship lost it's cargo to a whirlwind okay? That would make it much more comfortable for us. Yes, let's do that. But then how about showers of lizards, worms, mussels and green slime? These too have fallen out of the sky and covered the ground. Just those things too, nothing else but those things.

Fish are the most common falls, but their are other things that aren't so pleasant too. A group of mourners at a funeral were showered by animal parts and blood out of a clear blue sky no less in the L.A. area! I think I'll take the fish instead.

Okay, I didn't see these things and neither did you most likely. I'd almost rather see a ufo I think. I would at least think "ooh a spaceship from somewhere" and that would be that. If I saw fish falling out of a clear blue sky, how would you rationalize that one? I think that would make one really go the rest of the way crazy, as I already am partially crazy, I could go the rest of the way after seeing something like that.

Any answers? Hmmmmm? It is an odd place out there sometimes....Gtars said it.
