Odyssey Of Oddities

Welcome to this edition of Odyssey of Oddities. This month I will be discussing the wrap up and give some opinions on the UFO series that I have reported over the past three articles. I will call this column :

UFO TALK

If you have not read my series on personal UFO's, please feel free to read them in the archive section of Oddities. They will inform you of some of the odd things that my family and I have seen over the years.

My main goal here is to put UFO's into some sort of perspective for those that do not understand the phenomenon. This report will be from the standpoint that they are not some wild imagination scheme by those that view them, but rather this report will use the standpoint that they are real craft of some sort

There are so many opinions on what they are and where they are from. Equally there are hundreds of opinions dealing with the intentions of the occupants of these machines. Are they malevolent, or are they benevolent? That is always a good question to be asked. We have to examine the facts as we know them and then decide if they are helpful or are they harmful to us and our society. There is a possibility that both scenarios could be the case. If there is good there can be evil etc. So no matter what your opinion is, someone can counter that opinion with another. In this column, I would like to show some evidence for both sides of the question and then you must decide what you want to believe.

Helpful UFO cases have not been in great numbers. There was a case of an attempted rape back in the middle ages, when a "Cross" shaped UFO appeared above the incident that was about to take place and scared off the attackers on the woman who was about to be assaulted. I would consider this to be a helpful UFO case. There have been other reports of helpful UFO's dropping vast numbers of fish and nuts from the sky in areas that needed to be "replenished". These stories come from the Betty Andreason encounters. Then there are other accounts that the UFO's treat our atmosphere from time to time to prevent us from poisoning ourselves with pollution. (Also from the Betty Andreason accounts). So there may have been a few good things that UFO's have done, but not many have come to mind.

The sinister UFO is the most common encounter.

While listening to the Art Bell show the other night, the guest host was making the comment on how he would love to be "abducted". I don't know if I would be so inclined to meet UFO occupants as most of the encounters do not affect the abductee in a very positive manner. In most cases, it changes the lives of the abductee in a negative way, that stays with them the rest of their lives. They exhibit loss of sleep very often, and also have medical and psychological problems from that time on. Some have experienced being nothing less than a lab rat to their abductors. The experience has rarely been a positive one in any way shape or form.

The sinister UFO cases far outnumber any positive UFO cases. Betty Cash was a good example of the negative UFO encounter. Betty and (if I remember correctly) her daughter and perhaps a grandson were all in close proximity to a UFO on the backroads of Texas. The experience left her with radiation scars and health problems that eventually killed her just a few years back. Her case, as in so many others show that being in close proximity of a UFO is not always the best place to be, not only from a health problem standpoint, but also a psychological one as well. Betty Cash had spent a great time trying to convince people of the reality of the encounter, and she was looked at as a crazy woman until the day she died. She was scorned by so many in the community and had to deal with that on a daily basis.

Barney and Betty Hill also did not have a very positive experience. (What's up with this Betty thing? If you are a female named Betty watch out!) This couple did not have a good time with their captors either. There are hundreds of cases just like these that seem to put the UFO encounter in a very negative light.

Most of the time, the abductee is carefully placed back into the same situation that they were found in by the abductors, but not necessarily always. There have been cases where groups have been taken and returned wearing each other's clothing upon waking up. The abductors did not pay close enough attention to who was wearing what in a group situation. The abductees woke up to find that so and so was wearing their jeans or shirts etc.

Most cases leave some type of proof that they have been visited. Red marks on one's body is not uncommon. Scoop marks are also one of the signs of an abduction. Radiation exposure is often reported too. There is also the "implant" of an alien device that happens all too often.

One of the most bizarre aspects of the physical "proof" of an abduction, is not followed up by the news media. Some of the networks have done special stories on removal of implants, and yet the mystery still is not being examined in any real attempt to figure out what is going on. Implants have been removed and found to be of an unknown origin and no one could explain what the foreign object was, or where it came from. What do they do from there? They shove it under the proverbial rug. They don't want to get any closer to the truth. The evidence has been gathered and stored, but no one wants to do anything about it or deal with it.

Stanton Friedman said it best in a recent interview...In content he said something to the effect that if the press spent 1/4 of the energy trying to figure out the UFO phenomenon as it did on the Monica Lewinsky case, we would probably not have a mystery on our hands any longer. How true. The press backs off when it gets into scary territory, and I don't imagine this will ever change.

So what are they are what do they want? Are they craft from another world? Are they craft from our own future? Are they inner terrestrials that live right under our feet and have been living in underground caverns or underwater cities since the dawn of mankind? Are they demons that are showing themselves in some new form to confuse us? Are some of them our own creations? These are only a few of the theories that are out there. Maybe some of the theories are correct, and perhaps all of them are correct. Perhaps a combination of all of these theories have some merit. That is where the problem lies. We just don't know. Some people claim to know what they are and where they come from. Other people claim the same thing but have a different answer than the other person had. There is no consistent answer as to pointing to one source for all UFO's. Therefore, we have to keep many possibilities open in this regard.

Does our country possess working craft? Could be. Did an alien culture crash their craft by accident and we absorbed the knowledge of their technology? Could be. There is also a sinister angle that some groups have technology that the rest of us can not imagine and are confusing the issue by making it appear as though aliens are doing this. The answer to the question is still one that we all must sort out in our own minds. One of the best ways to figure it out is to examine cases as they become available, and study the facts. Ask yourself, what the purpose is in each case and try to form some logical conclusion.

What do we know now? Here is a synopsis of things we do know.

Kenneth Arnold started the UFO or flying saucer craze in 1947 when he spotted several UFO's skimming across the mountains while he was flying his aircraft near Mount Rainier in Washington State.

Many Citizens of Roswell New Mexico swear even on their deathbed, that a craft did indeed crash near Corona New Mexico and occupants and the craft were brought into the local Air Base at that time.

Washington DC was overflown by dozens of UFO's back in the 50's and captured on radar by more than one radar station and visual eyewitnesses.

The reports go on year after year of all types of craft and are reported by people ranging from our own military personnel, police officers, airport control tower operators, and every other segment of the population. These reports range from abduction scenario's to visual sightings of all types

This is what we know. Now what to do with the information? Skeptical people do not have a problem with dealing with this information. They can just dismiss it as a bunch of crazy people seeing things. It is the rest of us who have seen and have to wonder, who or what is watching us that have the biggest problem. We are the ones that have to attempt to put what we see into some kind of logical perspective and deal with what we have seen. The answer is that we don't really have any type of mental file to place these encounters into. We were never taught about such things as being a reality, and there are so many that scorn us for being a part of a reality that they have no conception of. The visual information we possess has to be stored into some logical file, but as of this time, we can only throw it into a big file that is stamped "unknown"

We just have to conclude that something out of the ordinary has happened to us, something very odd in nature. After all it is an odd place out there sometimes.... Gtars said it.
