Welcome back to Oddysey of Oddities This time we will be examining:

Rendelsham Forrest

The Rendlesham Forest incident is a spooky one indeed. It happened over a period of several nights. The first night, things were observed and reported to the base commander. The second night is when most of the story took place. A party of men were sent out to investigate the lights out over the field near the jointly used U.S. and British air base. When the men went out to investigate, they had portable generators and flood lights set up. They also had tape recorders, video cameras, and still cameras with them. Many of the men broke off into smaller groups to canvas the area and see what they could come up with for an explanation as to what was invading their territory.

One excellent feature of this story is that one of the major witnesses had a tape recorder and he described what he was seeing during the event. He describes a red light shining through the trees and watches it move through the forest. His account is very interesting to listen to, but it doesn't tell the entire story by any means. Since the groups were split up, we only get to hear the version of HIS group. The other groups had some interesting things to add to the event.

Unfortunately, it was on a military base, and so there is some blackout's involved in what they saw. Some of the participants described how light beams were shining down from four or more objects, and panning the ground as though searching for something. Another description from a non military person who was involved in the project tells of how a mist entered the center of a field where they were standing, and the mist or "fog" began to concentrate into a solid shape. When it was "assembled" from the fog, it appeared to be a diamond shaped craft sitting in the field. Sounds very strange indeed, but that is how it was told by one of the observers. This same individual told of how many of the military people ran away from the site. He stayed put though, and watched the rest of the event. He also told in his story that there were at least two video cameras shooting footage of the entire episode. He also said there were photo's being taken also at the time. The whereabouts of the videotapes and photos are not known, but we could guess that they are locked up in some vault somewhere.

The Bentwaters story is a strange one, but also a very good one. A full report on the event was submitted to the base commander and it was shown to the press. So in one manner of speaking, we have a military base that admitted that something was seen and they also have documentation of most of the witnesses to what was seen and experienced. The report was sent off for evaluation and the evaluation was never made. In fact nothing was ever sent to the base as far as any assesment from any superiors from outside of the base. It was hushed up of course. As for the incident itself, it stands as one of the best UFO stories in our time. The witnesses did talk, (at least most of them) and also there are reports that were made available, and also the recording of the audio tape that was made as one witness dictated it in real time to the recorder. Lots of evidence that something strange was happening at the time.

There is a light house about six miles away from the base. Of course all of the skeptics and cover stories, pointed to the beacon of the light house as to what everyone was seeing. I would think that they could see the phenomenon every night then wouldn't you? They blamed that on a certain weather pattern that made it happen just those two nights though..ha ha.

The story gets even deeper if you want to follow some of the details. Some say that the men or at least one of them actually touched the landed craft and described how it felt to the touch. I don't know if this is true or not, but that is part of the story that was told. The craft that landed or formed out of the mist, was touched by one of the military people! The problem with this event is that there were lots of small parties of men that all came back with their stories, and even though they don't seem to conflict with one another, you still have to sort out what actually took place. Some of the stories get very deep.
